I once fought through the heavens, now I defend this small piece of the world. I was an angel of glorious light. Now I call upon metal and machine. I fell so far, my body was shredded. They put me back together; replacing the ruined parts with ones of their own making. I owe them everything.

Clangs. Voices. Grinding sounds as I move. “Where am I?” I attempt to rise, the pain roars. I’m off balance. “Where are my Wings?” Movement. I glance down at my wrist to see gears where bone and flesh should be. Panic. I call on my magic: light and healing; a metallic sheen covers my arm instead. “What is this?” My legs buckle, a hand catches me. A man, the young female next to him holding a large box. It opens. White feathers attached to more gears. “Your wings were broken. I fixed them.”
